How To Make Your Own Disinfectant Spray

1. Since hydrogen peroxide is available in a bottle, it is best to leave it in the bottle and replace the cap with a spray nozzle.
2. Fill the empty bottle with vinegar and close the bottle with the second nozzle.
3. The disinfectant is ready. Spray the house first with the hydrogen peroxide solution and then follow with the vinegar.

NOTE: Never combine the two liquids or pour them in the same bottle.

Spray 2

This spray works in two steps. The first step is to clean with a mild dish-washing liquid and the second step is disinfecting.

Items Needed

– Water
– Rubbing Alcohol (65% USP)
– Dish-washing Soap
– Spray Nozzles (2)
– Spray Bottles (2)

Method of Preparation

1. Mix equal quantities of water and alcohol in a bottle with spray nozzle.
2. In another bottle, mix 1 tablespoon of dishwashing soap with a bottle of water.
3. The area to be cleaned should be sprayed with the dishwashing soap and let it remain for a while.
4. The second step involves spraying the alcohol solution on the contact points.

Spray 3 – Disinfectant Spray for Tiles and Tubs

Items Needed

– Vinegar
– Dish-washing Liquid
– Spray Bottle (1)
– Spray Nozzle (1)

Method of Preparation – This spray works as a cleaner and a disinfectant. The dish-washing liquid works as a degreaser, cleaning tiles and tubs, while the vinegar acts as a disinfectant. Here are the steps to make it:

1. Mix equal quantities of vinegar and dish-washing liquid in a spray bottle. Cap the bottle with a spray nozzle.
2. Shake the bottle well, spray on the greasy or dirty tiles, and let it sit for a few minutes.
3. Wipe the tiles and tub with a clean cloth.

Spray 4 – Lemon Disinfectant Spray

Items Needed

– Spray Bottle (1)
– Distilled Water to fill the bottle
– Lemon Essential Oil (30 drops)

Method of Preparation – This disinfectant works wells on kitchen countertops, linens and doorknobs. Here are the steps to prepare it:

1. Pour distilled water into a spray bottle.
2. Add 30 drops of lemon essential oil.
3. Shake the bottle well so that the two liquids mix well.
4. Spray the disinfectant on doorknobs, countertops and faucets. It is a good disinfectant for linens too.

These disinfectant sprays are made using products found in every home. The spray bottles and nozzles are also easily available and inexpensive. They do not take too long to prepare and some of them work as cleaning agents too, so that the user has a cleaner and disinfectant in a single bottle. In addition, these use natural ingredients for cleaning and disinfecting and are, therefore, safe to use.
